Fiber Brooch by Evgeniia Balashova

Working with 3d printed nylon Evgeniia always try to push its material possibilities. She particularly like experimenting with its flexibility and sometimes this quality dictates the design as well as the connection between metal and nylon. This brooch consists of a flexible 3d print which takes a shape of half circle when compressed, bending into this lovely shape and creating an intriguing tactile texture. Sterling silver frame is handmade to hold the print in that shape and the connection is made by simply sliding the print into the frame. This is an extremely satisfying way to join two materials together while experiencing playful and interactive nature of this flexible 3d print.

The design of the brooch back in this piece is particularly satisfying in the way it repeats the curvature of the frame, creating a seamless floating look when the brooch is being worn.

Evgeniia Balashova is showing an exclusive range of jewellery as part of the virtual Dazzle exhibition – Dazzle Invites.

Dazzle invites 30 contemporary jewellers, showing unique, one-off or limited edition designs, created specially for the exhibition.

All pieces are available to purchase from 17 November – 10 January.
