This brooch is wearable art recycled plastic brooch,a line drawing that you can wear. It is a unique handmade piece, a 'one-off', made from Recycled Plastic. A floral Perspex brooch with a stunning image of a flower head.
I collect, dry and press the flowers then heat the acrylic and press the leaves into the surface. I use them like a stencil to apply the colours (in this case Navy Blue), which give my botanical jewellery a contemporary feel. The flower head is then peeled off to reveal the design. I think of them as contemporary fossils. I choose quite ordinary plants and weeds to create my floral designs. I hope that the wearer will not only enjoy them as jewellery but also review their appreciation of the natural world.
Made from 100% recycled and recyclable acrylic, which is free from volatile organic compounds and hydrofluorocarbon and so more environmentally friendly.
