40 Years can be celebrated by rubies, these are red, so this was my inspiration for this brooch. Much of my work celebrates nature, hence my choice of red fruits and vegetables. All my pieces are one off and are unique. The base of this brooch is constructed from hand dyed straw, sewn by hand then blocked into shape. The radishes and the strawberries are hand painted. All the beads are attached with fabric glue, and the fabric and leather leaves are dyed by hand. Each element was then sewn to the straw base by hand.
