This piece is one of a series of pieces looking at theme and variation. All of the pieces are the same dimension of 60mm x 60 mm square but each piece is a one off. The pieces all have an element of movement. There are 4 pieces in a box frame, called the 4 Gentlemen of China, in the V&A collection that were part of this series of work. Another piece in the series is in the Goldsmiths Company collection.
The pieces comes in a box frame so that it can be enjoyed on and off of the body.
