Rubeus Circulus by Fiona Maguire

When I was thinking about Dazzle celebrating 40 years I was inspired by Ruby being the 40th wedding anniversary stone. Ruby is a stone of Divine creativity, it boosts your energy levels and promotes high self-esteem, intuition, and spiritual wisdom. Ruby is a symbol of good fortune, pure love, and loyalty and as an aphrodisiac stone, it brings vigour into your life. It is one of the most powerful red stones, it has a characteristic red colour with brownish or bluish hints.

As a circle has no beginning and no end, a circle represents eternity.  In many customs and spiritual beliefs, a circle represents the Divine life-force or Spirit that keeps our reality in motion. It is symbolic of vitality, wholeness, completion, and perfection. Circles hold and contain energy so that cycles of growth can exist within them.

Spiritually, the circle represents a supernatural motion that keeps things moving continuously. Symbolically, a circle represents the completion of cycles, transition, potential, and a movement that never ends.

So I decided, I would make 40 concaved silver domes and attach them to a single circle but instead of using Ruby stones I would use a Deep Ruby enamel and gold foil. I also wanted the brooch to have movement to represent energy and vitality … to the beginning of a new cycle for spiritual growth.
