Dazzle 40 | Ann Marie Shillito
Ann Marie Shillito started using digital technologies in her jewellery making in 1989, laser cutting her refractory metals. Some years later she moved into 3D Computer Aided Designing (CAD) for 3D printing becoming a research fellow at Edinburgh College of Art in 1999 to investigate why she found CAD so difficult to use. She eventually co-founded Anarkik3D, a software development company using virtual 3D touch (haptic) technology to make working in 3D enjoyable and fun. She now designs exclusively with the programme, using digital data to 3D print her pieces and her hand skills as a jeweller to finish them.
Ann Marie, MDesRCA, is author of the book ‘Digital Crafts: Industrial Technologies for Applied Artists and Designer’ and CEO of Anarkik3D. She lives and works and Edinburgh.
Ann Marie first showed at Dazzle in 1986.
