Dazzle Invites | Claire Underwood

Claire is fascinated by the precision of detail and is passionate about colour. Her interest in jewellery was sparked by the adornment and colourful beadwork of the Maasai people in Kenya after a childhood visit. She translated this into brightly enamelled silverware and jewellery while studying at college. Bright colour has become her trademark. Claire likes to convey a sense of fun with her designs and she enjoys the contrast of simple, pure forms with moments of texture, rich colour and pattern.

As a diplomatic spouse, Claire has lived in Russia, America, India, Thailand and Vietnam. These places have all provided unique inspiration for her work, the designs evolving with each new country. She strives to translate these riches into silver and gold jewellery embellished with bright enamel, colourful glass beads and precious gemstones.

All Claire’s jewellery is handmade in her workshop, either in London or Hanoi, where she enjoys the challenge of bringing new designs to life.

Dazzle invites 30 contemporary jewellers, showing unique, one-off or limited edition designs, created specially for the exhibition. All pieces are available to purchase from 17 November – 10 January.
